John Cratchley Checking out the ever interesting Leaf label led me to Roll The Dice...this live offering looked the business and doesn't disappoint...confident momentum and gradually building structures make this music engrossing. I particularly like the lack of an over insistent beat (no overt percussion); it gives the music a fluid feel...despite the label's "industrial" tag...I also like the prominence of the Fender Rhodes...

about

Live In Gothenburg’s taut, almost industrial energy marks the beginning of a thematic transition for the group. Where the eponymous debut album sung of hope and space, though admittedly cloaked in shades of grey and dark blue, this 12” is pockmarked with the granular, soot-cloaked feel of the big city and the volcanic darkness of its artwork. It’s a heady, trance-inducing combination.
